The Johnstone Archive brings together photographs, documents and artefacts collected during the research for my book The Boy Bugler. Many of these images have never previously been published and span more than a century of family history, from the Victorian era through two world wars and beyond.
The collection includes original family photographs, military portraits, official documents, newspaper cuttings, correspondence and places connected with the remarkable life of Alfred Sinclair Johnstone, later known as John Davies. Together they provide a visual companion to the book, allowing readers to explore the people, places and events that shaped the story.
The archive is an ongoing project, and additional material will be added as new photographs and documents come to light.
